The practice deck
A deck of challenges for talking to strangers.
Most people do not freeze for want of a line. They freeze because saying hello feels like a risk. The deck makes it a small one: one challenge, five minutes, one real person. Then a slightly harder one.

How a challenge goes.
- 1
Say where you are.
Street and park, gym, café and bookshop, bar and party, errands and transit. The deck deals only what fits the place.
- 2
Double tap a card.
A five minute timer starts. Long enough to do it, too short to talk yourself out of it.
- 3
Do it, then mark it done.
Each one counts toward the next tier, and the deck answers with something a little harder.
Questions about the deck.
What is the practice deck?
A deck of more than 300 five minute challenges about talking to strangers, in seven tiers. The first tier is one line to one person. The last is asking for a phone number. Each challenge is something you say to a real person, out in the world.
Who is the deck for?
Anyone who wants to be easier around people they have not met. Most people who use it want to be able to walk up to someone they like and start a conversation, and find that nerves stop them. The deck builds that nerve in small steps.
How long does a challenge take?
Five minutes. You double tap a card and a five minute timer starts. When you have done the challenge you mark it done, and it counts toward the next tier.
What is free and what is paid?
The Daily challenge is free: one challenge a day, the same one for everyone, with a count of how many people did it. The deck, the 22 lessons and your progress record are part of the subscription, which is bought in the app through Apple or Google.
Do I need the deck to go to an event?
No. Browsing events and booking with a host needs no subscription. The deck is there for anyone who wants walking into a room of strangers to feel easier.
