How it works

How Poise works.

Poise lists singles events run by independent hosts. You choose your city, pick a night, and book with the host. That is the whole of it.

  1. Choose your city.

When you set up the app you say where you live, and the app opens on what is on there. You can look at any other city at any time.

A city is listed when a host has a night on there. The list of cities grows as hosts add nights.

  2. Pick a night.

Every listing gives the same facts: who is hosting, the day and the time, the venue and its address, the price, and who the night is for.

Hosts often set a night by age, and say so on the listing. Some nights are for everyone. Others are for straight, gay, lesbian or queer singles, and the host says which.

  3. Get your ticket from the host.

The button on a listing opens the host's own ticket page. You book and pay there, at the host's price and under the host's terms.

Poise does not sell tickets and does not run the events. Changes, cancellations and refunds are handled by the host you booked with.

  4. Go.

Most people at a singles event come on their own. Everyone in the room is there to meet someone new, which makes saying hello a good deal easier than it is anywhere else.

What it costs.

The app is free to download, and browsing events and clubs is free.

Tickets are sold by the host, at the price printed on the listing.

A subscription is optional. It adds the practice deck, the lessons and your progress record.
